Ohio State is nearing the end of its spring practice period, and two true freshmen have stood out so far.

Buckeyes coach Ryan Day had great things to say about 4-star receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. and 5-star running back TreVeyon Henderson on Monday morning.

Day described Harrison Jr.’s early progress as “excellent.”

When asked about Henderson, Day talked about his consistency and his potential.

“He’s done everything right so far,” Day said. “He’s flashed at times already.”

Henderson has a much clearer pathway to playing time than Harrison Jr.

Master Teague is Ohio State’s incumbent starter at running back, but there will be plenty of carries to go around. Henderson is certainly talented enough to earn his share as a freshman.

At receiver, the path is much tougher. Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson are both back this season, and will be a focal point of Ohio State’s offense again in 2021. There’s also numerous other players already in the program who are more experienced, not to mention 5-star freshman Emeka Egbuka who will compete for playing time.

Fans will be able to see both of these players — and the rest of the roster — at Ohio State’s spring game on April 17.
