Ohio State DC Jim Knowles names top 2 linebackers for 2022 scheme

Ohio State is entering its first season with Jim Knowles as the defensive coordinator.
Knowles, formerly at Oklahoma State, will have the Buckeyes playing in a 4-2-5 scheme. Knowles has identified his top 2 linebackers as Steele Chambers and Tommy Eichenberg, per Bill Rabinowitz of The Columbus Dispatch.

Steele is in his fourth year at OSU. In 2021 fall camp, he switched positions from running back to linebacker. Last season, Steele played in all 13 games (4 starts) and was second among Ohio State linebackers with 423 defensive snaps. He finished fifth on the team with 47 tackles in 2021.
Eichenberg is also in his fourth year with the program. He played in all 13 games, logging 4 starts. In 2021, Eichenberg had 64 tackles, good for second on the team. He memorably finished the 2021 campaign with 17 tackles (11 solo), a Rose Bowl record, in the Buckeyes’ thrilling win over Utah.
