The Ohio State offense received most of the national attention after Saturday’s 77-31 win over Oregon State, but a Buckeye defender also received a little love for his performance in Week 1.

Wednesday, defensive end Nick Bosa was named the Bednarik Award Player of the Week for his effort against the Beavers.

Bosa recorded four tackles, two sacks (21 yards lost) and recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown for the Buckeyes.

This could be the first of many weekly awards for the defensive end. Bosa is considered to be one of the top players at his position in the B1G and across the country. He’s already off to a tremendous start.

Last year, Bosa totaled 34 stops, 16 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks while playing in all 14 games for Ohio State. He also had nine quarterback hurries.

Saturday, the Buckeyes step into conference play to take on Rutgers.
