Ohio State DE Nick Bosa on Baker Mayfield: He’s like Tate Martell on steroids

After playing Oklahoma a season ago, Ohio State defenders know what to expect from Sooners quarterback Baker Mayfield. And what they’re preparing for is one of the best passers in college football.
When you look at last year’s 45-24 final score, it might seem like the Buckeyes had Mayfield’s number. He completed just 17-of-32 passes for 226 yards with two touchdowns and a pair of interceptions. It wasn’t the ideal performance for a Heisman Trophy candidate.
But Ohio State knows just how good Mayfield can be and that just because he struggled last year doesn’t mean the Buckeyes should take him lightly.
“He is like a Tate Martell on steroids,” said Buckeyes defensive end Nick Bosa according to 247Sports.com.
Several other Ohio State defenders shared a similar thought. Linebacker Jerome Baker said that Mayfield has the ability to “make something out of nothing.”
Despite the sizeable margin of victory last year and an underwhelming offensive performance from the Sooners, this Ohio State defense knows just how dangerous Mayfield is and understands it has to keep him in check to come away with a major win.
The Buckeyes and Sooners are scheduled to kick at 7:30 p.m. and will be this week’s primetime game on ABC.
