Noah Potter didn’t make the trip to Rutgers for Ohio State’s game against the Scarlet Knights, and now we know why.

Potter tweeted he had emergency eye surgery after he lost peripheral vision in his right eye. It’s unclear what exactly was wrong.

The redshirt sophomore defensive tackle hasn’t played a snap for Ohio State this season, but played his first two years as a defensive end. He’s a former 4-star recruit, according to 247sports, and was ranked as the No. 6 recruit in the state of Ohio out of high school.

Ohio State had plenty of depth at DE this season, which is partially why Potter made the position change. We’ll have to see how long the surgery keeps Potter out of practice.

The Buckeyes are currently blowing out Rutgers 45-6 at SHI Stadium in Week 5 action.
