Ohio State is formally recruiting the younger brother of Jeremiah Smith.

Angelo Smith, who profiles as a defensive back, announced on Tuesday via social media that Ohio State extended a scholarship offer.

Like his older brother, Angelo Smith is out of Chaminade-Madonna in Hollywood, Florida. He is rated 3-stars, the No. 29 safety and No. 32 player in the state of Florida by 247Sports.

Hometown program Miami, one of the top contenders for Jeremiah Smith, was the first program to offer Angelo Smith in 2023. The younger Smith has also made social media posts about visiting Georgia and Florida and receiving scholarship offers from Toledo and Oklahoma State.

Ohio State may have a leg up on the competition thanks to Jeremiah Smith’s experience in Columbus, but it’s unlikely the brothers would be Buckeye teammates. Having begun his career in 2024, Jeremiah Smith will be eligible for the 2027 NFL Draft. Many analysts consider Jeremiah Smith NFL-ready, so it would be unlikely for him to return for a 4th year of college, which would be his earliest opportunity to be a college teammate of Angelo Smith.
