Following Senior Associate Athletic Director for Sports Administration Jocelyn Gates choice to step down as the program’s liaison, the Buckeyes have hired a face for the role. Carey Hoyt will be taking over the position per Spencer Holbrook of On3Sports.
Hoyt graduated from Penn State in 1998, with 2 degrees in speech communication and media studies. She also has a Master’s degree from Ohio State in sport coaching. She was the Buckeyes’ gymnastics coach for 13 years prior to joining the athletics staff there.
Here is what Ohio State Athletic Director Gene Smith had to say about the hiring of Hoyt in a press release on Monday:
““I am pleased to have Carey in place to take on these important football responsibilities,” said Smith. “Carey has been a key leader in our department since transitioning from coaching and she will bring exceptional communication skills and vision into this new role.”
Before accepting her new position, Hoyt was the Senior Associate AD and had a role with Sport Administration and Student-Athlete Development. She will oversee bowl planning and scheduling for the program.
