Ohio State football donating $10,000 to Red Cross for Harvey relief

Players and coaches from Ohio State want to do their part to help Hurricane Harvey disaster relief.
According to Yahoo Sports, the Buckeyes will be donating $10,000 to the Red Cross for Harvey relief. The announcement was made on Wednesday morning.

Per the school, the players’ donations will be supplemented by coach donations to reach the $10,000 goal.

Nearly 1,200 miles separate Houston and Columbus, but for some Buckeyes, the tragedy is much closer to home.
Seven players on Ohio State’s roster come from Texas, including Kendall Sheffield, a native of Houston.
Hurricane Harvey is projected to be the costliest natural disaster in United States history, according to USAToday. The estimated cost of the damage is expected to be around $160 billion.
The Buckeyes are the most recent to pledge a significant donation to the disaster relief.
Former Wisconsin star J.J. Watt has urged people to donate to the cause and has raised over $5 million as of Wednesday morning.
