Ohio State freshman cornerback Jyaire Brown is already making quite an impression in fall camp for the Buckeyes. The 4-star athlete out of West Chester, Ohio has been so impressive thus far that his black tripe has been taken off his helmet.

Now for those who aren’t familiar with this tradition, it started under former head coach Urban Meyer. Ohio State newcomers get a black stripe on top of the red stripe down the middle of their helmet. Removal of the stripe signifies they have become essentially full fledge members of the team.

Thus, Brown is now a full member of this 2022 squad which is a great honor for a freshman.

Coming out of high school, recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks said this about him:

“Natural cover corner with encouraging frame relative to position projection. Good height. Long and lean with a wiry, athletic build. Should add some bulk with continued physical development. Displays promising turn-and-run ability. Speed to stay with receivers in vertical game. Receivers do not get on top of him easily. Plays with swagger. Combines that with long levers to provide press effectiveness. Looks fairly fluid for a young, taller corner. Disruptive at the catch point. Shows suddenness when breaking on the ball.”

It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that Brown is doing well in his first fall camp for the Buckeyes.
