We’re 5 weeks into the college football season.

There has been enough action to get a good look as to who has been playing well and who hasn’t. After one or two games, statistics can be skewed. At this point, not as much.

Pro Football Focus grades each player every single game and released the best defenders so far this season — in terms of rating — in the Big Ten. They released the top 5 with a graphic:

Ohio State LB Dre’Mont Jones has dominated in just about every single game the Buckeyes have played this season. There’s a reason why Ohio State is ranked No. 3 in the country prior to Week 6, and Jones is certainly a part of it.

When reading the article by PFF’s Cam Mellor, he mentions not only Jones and his play, but Nick Bosa’s as well:

“Nick Bosa would be atop this list had he been healthy enough and in action recently,” Mellor wrote. “Still, it’s a Buckeye to grace the top-graded defensive players in the Big Ten with Jones sporting the top mark. He’s recorded 12 total QB pressures this season and also made one of 2018’s highlight-reel moments with his Pick-6 against TCU.”

Ohio State’s defensive line is phenomenal. That simple.
