Former Miami (OH) head coach and Purdue assistant Jack Owens is heading to Columbus.

Stadium’s Jeff Goodman reported on Saturday that Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann is expected to hire Owens to join the staff for the upcoming season. Owens most recently served as the head coach at Miami (OH) from 2017-22.

Owens and Miami parted ways after 5 seasons. In that time, the RedHawks posted a 70-83 record and had only one postseason appearance, CBI trip at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.

Prior to taking over at Miami, Owens spent a decade on Matt Painter’s staff at Purdue. He was an assistant coach from 2008-11 and was later named associate head coach from 2011-17.

This is one of two vacancies Holtmann needed to fill this offseason.

Ohio State finished the 2021-22 season with a 20-12 overall record and a 12-8 mark in B1G play. The Buckeyes made a trip to the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament before falling to Villanova.
