Ohio State hoops loses commitment from 4-star prospect, first player to commit via 2023 recruiting class

Class of 2023 guard George Washington III decommitted from Ohio State Monday morning. Washington was the first player to commit to Chris Holtmann’s 2023 cycle.
The 4-star guard announced his de-commitment via Twitter.

Ohio State retains 4-star small forward Scotty Middleton, 4-star power forward Devin Royal and 3-star center Austin Peaks in the 2023 class. Washington was the 3rd highest rated player in the Buckeyes’ class.
Washington is considered to be the No. 76 prospect in the nation, the No. 9 power forward and No. 2 player from the state of Ohio. He recently visited both Louisville and Tennessee in the fall.
Ohio State has made the past 2 NCAA Tournaments, losing to Villanova in the second round last season and Oral Roberts in 2021 as a 2-seed.
