Ohio State inks Ryan Day to 2-year contract extension

Ryan Day has earned a contract extension from Ohio State.
According to 247Sports, Ohio State has inked Day to a 2-year extension which will keep him in Columbus through the 2028 season. The head coach also received a pay bump that will result in an annual salary of $9.5 million.
That pay increase is nearly $2 million more than Day’s previous yearly earnings, which were set at $7.6 million. The contract extension was approved by the Board of Trustees on Wednesday and is likely to be finalized by Thursday, per 247Sports.
The 2022 season will mark Day’s fourth season as the head coach of the Buckeyes. He also served as the interim head coach for 3 games in 2018 when Urban Meyer served a suspension.
Ohio State has compiled a 34-4 record in Day’s tenure in Columbus. The Buckeyes claimed back-to-back B1G titles in 2019 and 2020, making trips to the College Football Playoff in both years.
Last year, Ohio State finished the season with an 11-2 record, which included a win in the Rose Bowl.
Day initially joined Meyer’s staff in 2017 as the quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator.
