Ohio State insider shares prediction on coming Urban Meyer decision

On a busy Monday, arguably the biggest news story in college football was that two sources connected to the Urban Meyer investigation at Ohio State told The Columbus Dispatch that the likely recommended punishment will be a suspension for the head coach.
OSU insider Jeff Snook reacted to the news by posting an update on his Facebook page. The Ohio State journalism grad and Buckeyes author is sticking to his prediction made earlier this month that Meyer will not miss any games.
“… I still would be surprised at even a one-game suspension,” Snook wrote in his post.
Meyer is currently on paid administrative leave. While the corporate/business world views paid leave as different than a suspension, many reports on the matter have noted that Ohio State may deem Meyer’s time away from the team (since Aug. 1) as time served (despite not being formally “suspended”) in any suspension for the matter of how domestic abuse allegations against former wide receivers coach Zach Smith were handled (the subject of the investigation).
At Big Ten Media Days, Meyer disputed Brett McMurphy’s report of a 2015 incident involving Smith. After being placed on leave, Meyer said in a statement that he had followed protocol in reporting the incident to his superiors.
The OSU Board of Trustees will meet Wednesday to discuss the Meyer situation.
Ohio State’s first game is scheduled for Sept. 1 against Oregon State in Columbus.
