The Buckeyes are still in the running to land the No. 1 player in the 2020 recruiting class.

Tuesday night, Zachary Evans, the top prospect of the 2020 class, narrowed down his list of offers to his top five schools he’ll be considering from this point forward. The five-star Texas native has included Ohio State in his list, as well as Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma and Georgia.

Evans made his announcement via Twitter on Tuesday night. The elite prospect has received a total of 44 offers, per 247Sports.

“Would like to say thank you to all of the colleges and coaches for recruiting me during the past couple years, it has truly been a blessing and an amazing experience, but at this time I have decided to focus on these FIVE schools,” Evans wrote.

Evans is an elite running back who has earned the No. 1 overall ranking in the 2020 class, per 247Sports’ composite rankings. He’s also listed as the 34th highest-rated recruit since these type of evaluations have been tracked.

It’s early in the recruiting cycle, but the Buckeyes already have a strong 2020 class, which will be Ryan Day’s first complete cycle as the head coach. Already, Ohio State has landed eight commitments and ranks 11th nationally and second in the B1G.

Ohio State has a commitment from one five-star talent, offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr.
