Ohio State’s transfer portal departures include a linebacker who spent 3 seasons with the program.

Reid Carrico took to social media on Monday to announce that he will explore his options to continue his career elsewhere.

“I would like to thank everyone at Ohio State for all their help and support during my time there,” Carrico wrote in a note posted on his X account. “Thanks to all my teammates for the friendships we have made. And most importantly I’d like to thank God for the strength and ability that he has given me. With that being said I am entering the transfer portal.”

An Ironton (Ohio) standout, Carrico was a sought-after recruit in the Class of 2021. After picking up 30 offers, he chose OSU over Alabama, Clemson, Michigan, Notre Dame and others. He was rated 4-stars, the No. 3 player in the state of Ohio, No. 9 linebacker and No. 87 prospect overall nationally on the 247Sports Composite.

Carrico was primarily a special teams contributor in his 3 seasons with the Buckeyes. According to his OSU bio, Carrico played in 21 games during his Ohio State career, recording 5 tackles.

We’ll see what’s next for Carrico, who has 2 seasons of eligibility remaining after redshirting in 2021.
