Ohio State linebacker Jerome Baker will be back on the field for the Buckeyes this Saturday against Illinois.
Following practice on Wednesday, head coach Urban Meyer updated Baker’s status with the media, saying the linebacker was cleared by the medical staff to participate this weekend. He missed last week’s game against Michigan State due to an undisclosed injury.
“Baker has been cleared, he’ll play,” Meyer said.
Meyer also said that the other injured linebacker who missed last weekend’s game against the Spartans, Dante Booker, is still questionable. Last week, a decision on the linebackers wasn’t made until a few hours before kickoff.
Baker has recorded 44 tackles for the Buckeyes this season, including 4.5 stops for loss. Booker has totaled 31 stops with five tackles for loss on the year.
According to 247Sports, Meyer was also asked if Baker or freshman Tuf Borland would get the start this weekend and where Chris Worley will line up against the Illini. The head coach didn’t care to provide an answer for those questions.
“We’re not going to give you that,” Meyer said.
