Ohio State suffered a big loss on the recruiting trail on Monday night.

The Buckeyes lost 4-star running back Jordan Lyle to Miami. Lyle is a Fort Lauderdale native who had been committed to Ohio State since the spring. He’s one of the top running backs in this class.

Lyle shared his decision with On3’s Hayes Fawcett:

Lyle is the No. 158 overall player and the No. 11 running back in the country for the class of 2024, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 20 player from the state of Florida.

Lyle attends St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale. He’s listed at 6-foot, 180 pounds.

This is the second straight cycle that Miami has flipped a running back commitment from Ohio State. In the class of 2023, Mark Fletcher Jr. backed off of his pledge to the Buckeyes and ended up signing with Miami about a month later. Fletcher rushed for 512 yards and 5 touchdowns during his true freshman season.

Ohio State is now down to 22 commitments in the class of 2024. The group sits at No. 2 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

The Early Signing Period begins on Wednesday.
