Ohio State is a finalist for 5-star quarterback prospect Malachi Nelson.

Nelson’s top-seven was released on Sunday afternoon. Ohio State is the only Big Ten team on the list:

The Buckeyes are joined by Notre Dame, Oklahoma, LSU, Alabama, Florida State and USC.

Nelson is ranked as the No. 2 overall quarterback prospect in 2023, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also rated as the No. 5 overall player in the country.

He only trails Arch Manning, the nephew of former NFL quarterbacks Peyton and Eli Manning. The Buckeyes are also still recruiting Manning.

Nelson attends Los Alamitos High School in Los Alamitos, California. He’s listed at 6-foot-3, 180 pounds.

Ohio State doesn’t have any commitments yet for the class of 2023. However, the Buckeyes do have 5-star quarterback prospect Quinn Ewers expected to sign with the program this upcoming December. He’s the No. 1 overall player in the class of 2022.

Nelson will announce his commitment later this month on July 18.
