Ohio State’s coaching staff is missing a few key pieces for the Buckeyes’ game against Michigan State on Saturday.
In addition to head coach Ryan Day, three OSU assistants will miss the contest against the Spartans due to COVID-19. Co-defensive coordinator Greg Mattison, quarterbacks coach Corey Dennis and special teams teams coordinator Matt Barnes are the impacted coaches.
An Ohio State spokesman confirmed defensive co-coordinator Greg Mattison, quarterbacks coach Corey Dennis and special teams coach Matt Barnes are not with the team for today’s game at Michigan State.

Barnes is also Ohio State’s safeties coach.
Ohio State only missed one game with its COVID-19 outbreak. Depending on when these coaches tested positive, it’s possible they will be eligible to return to action next weekend.
Associate head coach and defensive line coach Larry Johnson is the interim for Day. Offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson and defensive coordinator Kerry Coombs will be heavily involved as well.
Ohio State has won four straight games vs. Michigan State.
