Ohio State has named junior defensive lineman Zach Harrison its defensive player of the game for his performance vs. Minnesota on Thursday.

Harrison recorded 3 tackles and 1 sack, 1 forced fumble and was a disruptive force for the Buckeyes’ defense.

Here’s the announcement:

He was the best defensive player in all of college football on Thursday night, according to Pro Football Focus.

Harrison, a former 5-star recruit, is hoping for a breakout year before he could potentially leave for the NFL Draft after this season. He entered last night’s game with 5.5 career sacks in 17 games.

Defensive line coach Larry Johnson said back in August that he’s been impressed with Harrison’s development as a player and as a leader for the Buckeyes.

Receiver Chris Olave and running back Miyan Williams were named Ohio State’s Co-Offensive Players of the Week earlier on Friday.

Ohio State hosts Oregon in Week 2.
