Ohio State OL, member of 2022 class, sheds black stripe

Ohio State sent out a “black stripe alert” Friday morning.

Second-year OL Tegra Tshabola is the latest Buckeye to shed his black stripe. Tshabola’s stripe was removed in Thursday’s practice, Ohio State’s 4th practice of the spring period.

After working at right guard last season, Tshabola is now competing to be Ohio State’s starting right tackle. Out of Lakota West in West Chester, Ohio, Tshabola was rated 4-stars, the No. 6 recruit in the state, No. 10 offensive tackle and No. 104 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2022 on the 247Sports Composite.

In Columbus, Tshabola has learned that what worked against high school defenders won’t work against his Buckeye teammates in practice.

“You try to bulldoze somebody with your head down and they move out of your way, and you’re on the ground on your stomach and the coach is getting on you,” Tshabola said, per Nathan Baird of Cleveland.com. “I immediately knew there was something I had to change.”
