It’s official: Justin Fields has started breaking records with his incredible performance in the Sugar Bowl.
Facing off against Clemson with a shot at redemption, Fields has been electric. He shrugged off an early fumble on the game’s opening drive before launching into full-blown superhuman mode. He even shrugged off a nasty shot on a hit that resulted in the ejection of Clemson LB James Skalski.
In his performance, Fields went on to throw six touchdowns in the big win for the Buckeyes. That sets a new Sugar Bowl record for passing touchdowns:

If that mark wasn’t impressive enough, Fields threw for 385 yards, breaking an Ohio State record that was previously held by Troy Smith. Smith’s previous record for passing yards in a bowl game by a Buckeye was 342:

Fields also joined Dwayne Haskins and J.T. Barrett as the only quarterbacks in OSU history to throw for five or more touchdowns in multiple games in a season. However, Fields now holds the distinction as the only Buckeyes QB to throw for five or more touchdowns in a bowl game:

As the game winds down, Fields has gone 22-for-28 passing for 385 yards and six touchdowns. Considering he has been fighting through pain for much of the game, it is hard to find a gutsier performance during this college football season.
