Ohio State offered a running back from the 2025 class named Alvin Henderson on July 1st. What stuck out about Ohio State to Henderson was what RB coach Tony Alford said to him per Robert Fenbers of cleveland.com

Alford has developed 6 1,000 yards rusher since taking over the position 7 years ago. He’s recruited the likes of Ezekiel Elliot, J.K. Dobbins, Mike Weber, and TreVeyon Henderson as of late.

Here’s what Alford said to Henderson:

“He was like, ‘I’m not the type of a coach that’s going to sell you lies and dreams. Out of all the coaches that have already offered you, have they told you why they really want you?’”

Henderson was shocked as the only school that has done so thus far is Alabama. The 2025 recruit has 33 total offers other than the Buckeyes per the 247Sports Composite. The only 2 schools that have that up front with him so far are the Buckeyes and Crimson Tide.

“I said, ‘No coach has ever told me that except at Alabama,’ ” he said. “We talked, me and my mom, and he told us about The Ohio State. He said he didn’t want me to think he was selling me dreams. He wanted me to see it with my own eyes.”

There’s a reason that Alford has been at Ohio State for all this time.
