Ohio State releases update on COVID-19 situation, permits some team activities

After missing one game due to COVID and another one still up in the air, Ohio State fans received some encouraging news on Monday regarding the team’s chances of returning to action.
It was reported Monday that players on the Buckeye roster who are not quarantining got to return to the team facility for workouts. That comes as the team is battling COVID and is hoping to take on Michigan State this Saturday.
From Ohio State: Players who are not quarantined returned to the Woody Hayes Athletic Center on Monday for small group workouts. Meetings are being conducted virtually.

This appears to be a small step in the right direction. The key will be to see if COVID numbers increase. The more numbers go up, the less chance there is for the Buckeye-Spartan matchup to take place. This comes as last weekend’s Ohio State-Illinois game was canceled due to COVID.
The Buckeye COVID spread has affected nearly every part of the program, including head coach Ryan Day. The earliest he could return is Dec. 7. That would be two days after this weekend’s game.
Ohio State is in a real precarious position right now. The Buckeyes are trying to be healthy enough to play. Not playing will have big consequences on the Ohio State season. If the Buckeyes have to cancel one more game, they will not be eligible for the Big Ten championship game. That would be a big blow to Ohio State’s chances to make the College Football Playoff.
