Ohio State kicked off an awesome tradition last season, and Thayer Munford will keep it going during the 2021 season.

Following the NCAA approving the use of the number 0 on uniforms in 2020, head coach Ryan Day and the Buckeyes decided to utilize the number to honor Bill Willis. The program has already retired Willis’ 99 jersey, but the team decided to also honor his contributions by awarding one player the chance to wear the Block 0.

During the 2020 season, that honor went to defensive lineman Jonathon Cooper. In 2021, the honor is going to offensive lineman Thayer Munford.

Unfortunately, Munford will not be able to wear the number 0 as his jersey number. NCAA rules require offensive linemen to wear a number that falls between 50-79.

As a result, Munford will don an exclusive Block 0 patch on his uniform. Either way, this is an incredible honor and looks awesome on Munford’s jersey.
