The Scarlet Knights defeated Texas State 35-7 to start the year 1-0. One team won’t be taking a perfect record into Week 3. The lead up
Rutgers coach Chris Ash was asked this week if the absence of Urban Meyer would give the Scarlet Knights any kind of advantage over the Buckeyes.
Ash had the perfect response.
“Considering that he wasn’t on the sideline Saturday and they put up 77 points, I don’t see that being an advantage,” Ash said in response to the question.
Ash is right, the Buckeyes looked just as impressive without Meyer as they would’ve looked with him on the sideline. And with Meyer back at practice now, Ohio State could (somehow) be even more dynamic.
Rutgers is also coming off a 35-7 win over Texas State last weekend, a game in which its defense pitched a shutout and the Bobcats’ only touchdown came off a pick-six.
The Scarlet Knights are going to need some help keeping Ohio State out of the end zone. Meyer being away from the field won’t be enough.
Saturday Tradition News: Ohio State DE named Bednarik Award Player of the Week
The Ohio State offense received most of the national attention after Saturday’s 77-31 win over Oregon State, but a Buckeye defender also received a little love for his performance in Week 1.
Wednesday, defensive end Nick Bosa was named the Bednarik Award Player of the Week for his effort against the Beavers.
Bosa recorded four tackles, two sacks (21 yards lost) and recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown for the Buckeyes.
