Ohio State’s running back situation took a hit earlier this week, as Master Teague suffered an injury that will keep him sidelined for the rest of spring practice. While most of the information regarding the injury has been unannounced, the team was willing to put a timetable on his expected return to the field.

Dave Biddle of 247Sports reported that offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson said he’s “optimistic” Teague will return for the Buckeyes and be available for the 2020 season. Wilson added that Teague could be sidelined for up to six months, which would put his return at September.

Ohio State opens up the season on Saturday, Sept. 5 at home against Bowling Green.

Teague was the team’s second-leading rusher last season, running for 789 yards and four touchdowns. He also caught four passes for 60 yards. He was expected to take on a more prominent role with J.K. Dobbins headed to the NFL.

Currently, Steele Chambers is the only Ohio State running back on scholarship who is healthy for spring practice.
