Ohio State will have a new starting QB vs. Akron

Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud will get some rest in Week 4. Ohio State announced that Stroud will be on the bench for the game vs. Akron as he recoups from a shoulder injury, according to On3.

Stroud will only play in case of an emergency situation, according to On3. Kyle McCord and Jack Miller are the backup quarterbacks for Ohio State.

During his first season as Ohio State’s quarterback, Stroud has amassed 963 yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions.

Ohio State is off to a 2-1 start to the 2021 season. Ohio State bounced back from a Week 2 loss vs. Oregon with a 41-20 victory vs. Tulsa. Ohio State hosts in-state opponent Akron on Sept. 25 (7:30 p.m. EST) and the matchup will be televised on the BTN.

Ohio State leads the all-time series 7-1 and is on a four-game winning streak vs. Akron. Akron’s lone victory in the series dates all the way back to 127 years ago, when they notched a 12-6 win in 1894.
