Ohio State redshirt freshman quarterback C.J. Stroud is emerging as a strong candidate to be under center at the beginning of the season.
Stroud has been impressive so far during fall camp, so much so that one of his wide receivers is already making a lofty comparison.
Ohio State wide receiver Garrett Wilson believes Stroud has plenty of similarities to Super Bowl champion quarterback Russell Wilson.
Garrett Wilson talked about Ohio State QBs C.J. Stroud, Kyle McCord, Jack Miller and Quinn Ewers on Big Ten Network tonight.
He compared Stroud to Russell Wilson: “He really drops the ball in there… the ball, it falls on you. So it makes it really easy to catch the deep ball.” pic.twitter.com/AX9YLrYpvr

It’s still really early in Stroud’s career but if he resembles anything close to Wilson, Ohio State fans will be ecstatic.
The 6-foot-3, 218-pound Stroud played in three games last season, and rushed for a 48-yard touchdown vs. Michigan State. In the spring game, Stroud amassed 185 yards and two touchdowns.
If Stroud gets the nod, he’d be following in the footsteps of Justin Fields, who was drafted by the Bears with the 11th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Ohio State is coming off a 2020 season in which they lost to Alabama in the national title game. Ohio State kicks off the 2021 season with a primetime matchup at Minnesota on Sept. 2 (8 p.m. EST/FOX).
