There was a scary moment during the Ohio State-Cincinnati matchup in Week 2. During the second quarter, Cincinnati safety Kyriq McDonald fell backwards and needed medical attention because he was suffering a seizure.
The incident left Buckeyes wide receiver K.J. Hill distraught. He explained why to the media Tuesday.
“Pre-snap he was lined up man against me, so I was staring at him to see what I’m about to do, to make a plan,” Hill said according to Cleveland.com. “I could see his eyes rolling in the back of his head. At first I thought he was trying to intimidate me or something, because people do that in football all the time.
“But when I saw him start shaking, I knew something was wrong. I didn’t even bother to touch him or anything.”
Hill’s grandmother sustained seizures for years, so he was familiar with the symptoms and immediately called for medical attention.
“I kept going with the play, but at the same time, I was a little shook, because I saw him having a seizure,” Hill said. “I know what a seizure looks like. … I was trying to get somebody’s attention, but they got to him.”
Ohio State running back J.K. Dobbins ran for a 24-yard gain on that play.
Cincinnati coach Luke Fickell said on the AAC teleconference Monday that doctors cleared Hill to rejoin the team. That’s great news, but boy, was the initial incident scary Saturday.
