Every year, Ohio State is one of the big program winners at the NFL Draft. It always seems to produce some of the most talent of any other college football team in the country.
The 2019 NFL Draft was no different, as nine former Buckeyes heard their names called in Nashville over the weekend. That total led the B1G, accounting for nearly 25 percent of the 40 players drafted out of the conference.
But that might not even be the most impressive thing from the NFL Draft for Ohio State. The Buckeyes actually have a pretty incredible streak going at the cornerback position, which was extended this year.
According to Ohio State Football’s official Twitter account, every starting cornerback since the 2013 season — 2014 NFL Draft — has been drafted. In that time, seven former Buckeye cornerbacks have been drafted. Here’s the list:
- Bradley Roby, 1st Round (2014)
- Doran Grant, 4th Round (2015)
- Eli Apple, 1st Round (2016)
- Marshon Lattimore, 1st Round (2017)
- Gareon Conley, 1st Round (2017)
- Denzel Ward, 1st Round (2018)
- Kendall Sheffield, 4th Round (2019)

What’s most amazing about the list is that five of those seven cornerbacks were first-round selections. Talk about “CB U.”
We’ll have to wait until next year to see if Ohio State can keep that tradition going at the 2020 NFL Draft.
