Ohio State defensive end Chase Young is trying to become the first defender to win the Heisman Trophy in 22 years. If the latest Heisman odds from Betonline is any indication, his chances to making that history are increasing.

In just one week — during an Ohio State bye week no less — Young’s Heisman odds went from 25-to-1 to 8-to-1. He now possesses the fifth-best odds of winning college football’s most coveted trophy according to Betonline.

If Young wins the award, he’ll have to beat out his teammate and Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields, who saw his Heisman odds drop a little during the Buckeyes bye week.

LSU, Alabama and Oklahoma also had bye weeks this past Saturday. The quarterbacks for each of those programs saw a little change in their Heisman odds as well.

Check out the full odds below:

Young has 29 combined tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks and five forced fumbles this season. The last defensive player to win the Heisman Trophy was Michigan’s Charles Woodson in 1997.
