Chris Holtmann and Ohio State don’t have much time to celebrate Thursday’s win over Minnesota to start their B1G Tournament run. The Buckeyes head coach is already looking ahead to Friday afternoon’s matchup with Purdue.
Ohio State defeated Minnesota 79-75, fending off a furious rally from the Golden Gophers late in the game to advance to the quarterfinals of the B1G Tournament. Awaiting the Buckeyes are the Boilermakers, who swept the season series.
“Well, first of all, I don’t like Matt [Painter] at all,” Holtmann said jokingly. “No, I’m kidding. He’s a tremendous coach, tremendous program. They got us twice [in the regular season]. We’ve gotta be better. Fairly close games. We’ve gotta be physical, because that’s what Purdue does. Trevion [Williams] is terrific but they’ve got a lot of guys coming on. I’m excited to see what they can do beyond the B1G Tournament. Hopefully we can play well and get them tomorrow.”

Purdue defeated Ohio State in the first matchup 67-60 in West Lafayette in December. One month later, the Boilermakers pulled off a 67-65 win thanks to a game-winning 3-point shot from freshman Jaden Ivey.
Tomorrow’s matchup between Purdue and Ohio State is set to tip-off 25 minutes after the end of the Michigan-Maryland game, which is set for 11:30 a.m.
