When Rutgers quarterback Noah Vedral’s pass was intercepted by Ohio State cornerback Denzel Burke and returned for a touchdown during last Saturday’s game, it gave the Buckeyes their third pick-six in the past three games.

The first-quarter pick by the true freshman, a 4-star recruit out of Arizona, put Ohio State up 14-0 and was the beginning of the end for the Scarlet Knights with OSU eventually finishing them off, 52-13.

Burke has been having a career year already as a true freshman. With just five games in the books he has 29 targets (12 catches), 0 touchdowns allowed, and 1 interception over 176 coverage snaps. Those numbers are according to Pro Football Focus:

Burke leads the Buckeyes in passes defended with 6, and also has 15 tackles – 8 solos.

Burke and the No. 7 Buckeyes host Maryland on Saturday, Oct. 9 at 11:00 AM.
