A head coach’s support staff often doesn’t receive a great deal of attention, but are a valuable resource for any staff. Several turn out to become head coaches of their own, and eventually, part of that path will include an assistant coaching role at some point.
On Monday, On3’s Matt Zenitz highlighted 65 support staff members across the country that he felt would be promoted to assistant coaching roles either at their current program or elsewhere. Zenitz compiled the list based on discussions with coaches around the sport, with the names on his list being those that gained the “best overall feedback”.
All told, 9 B1G support staff members made Zenitz’s list, which you can view below:
Kirk Campbell, offensive analyst, Michigan
Steve Cooper, senior offensive analyst, Nebraska
Cam Spence, defensive line graduate assistant, Ohio State
Keenan Bailey, senior advisor to the head coach, Ohio State
Matt Guerreri, senior advisor and defensive analyst, Ohio State
Deion Barnes, defensive line graduate assistant, Penn State
Rick Lyster, analyst/analytics coordinator, Penn State
Jontavius Morris, defensive analyst/recruiting assistant, Purdue
Mike Caputo, defensive analyst, Wisconsin
