One bowl-eligible team is staying home this postseason

Bowl season is not all fun and games for every 6-6 team in college football.

That has traditionally been the mark for teams to get to bowl eligibility. However, there are occasionally times when 6-6 teams get left out of the fun.

This year, no bowl had to settle for a 5-7 team, which sometimes happens if there is a shortage of 6-6 finishers. Unfortunately, there were 79 teams that finished at or above the .500 mark this year with 78 bowl slots available.

The odd man out appears to be the Toledo Rockets out of the MAC:

Toledo did finish the year at 6-6 with a 3-5 conference record, but the Rockets did have some bright moments. They beat Colorado State and BYU in non-conference games and even hung close in a game against Kentucky out of the SEC. Unfortunately, the Rockets lost back-to-back games by blowout fashion to end the season.

Missing out on the postseason actually snaps a streak of five straight bowls for Toledo. Most recently, the Rockets headed to the Bahamas Bowl in 2018.
