One bowl game is already set, and it is with a quick turnaround. University of Texas San-Antonio will play SMU this Saturday in an all-Texas affair.

The bowl game, based in Frisco, has a natural tie-in with the American Athletic Conference this year as well as an at-large bid. This is the fourth year of the bowl game, held at Toyota Stadium, home of FC Dallas of MLS.

For UTSA, this is just their second ever bowl game, having lost to New Mexico in the New Mexico Bowl in 2016. They finished the season 7-4 in Conference USA, winning their last three games including a 49-17 win over North Texas two weeks ago to close out the season.

SMU’s roller coaster of a season ended at 7-3 in the AAC. It was a disappointing season, all things considered, as the Mustangs started the season 5-0 and rose as high as No. 16 in the AP Top 25 Poll. They lost their last two games, including a bad 52-38 loss two weeks ago at East Carolina.

The Frisco Bowl represents consecutive bowl games for SMU for the first time since 2012.
