‘One last go’: Trayce Jackson-Davis to return to Indiana for junior season

New head coach Mike Woodson just landed a huge win for the Hoosiers!

Friday afternoon, Trayce Jackson-Davis officially announced he would be returning for his junior season. The star forward and leading scorer for Indiana was mulling the possibility of entering the NBA Draft.

“After talking with Coach Woodson and family, I believe it is in my best interest to come back for my junior year,” wrote Jackson-Davis in his note on Twitter. “One last go around with the candy stripes.”

It is not really possible to oversell the importance of Jackson-Davis’ decision to return for the 2021-22 season. He is Indiana’s leading scorer for the past two seasons, including averaging 19.1 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in 2020-21.

With Woodson taking over and trying to build momentum for the future, getting one more season of Jackson-Davis with the Hoosiers is a massive win. His decision could potentially sway some other Hoosiers out of the transfer portal to stay in Bloomington, but he certainly gives a building block for Woodson to put together a competitive squad in 2021.
