Two B1G programs are in the mix to land Oral Roberts star forward Kevin Obanor.

Obanor, who nearly averaged a double-double during the 2020-21 season at Oral Roberts, entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal during the offseason. He released a list of 10 programs that he’s still considering, two of which are from the B1G — Illinois and Maryland.

Other schools in consideration include Arizona, Oklahoma, Florida, Texas Tech, Creighton, Arkansas, Texas A&M and Alabama. Obanor narrowed down his list with a post on Twitter.

A 6-foot-8 forward, Obanor averaged an impressive 18.7 points and 9.6 rebounds per contest last season with the Golden Eagles. He played a huge role in Oral Roberts’ Sweet 16 run during the NCAA Tournament, averaging 23.3 points and 11 rebounds per game.

In the first-round game against Ohio State, Obanor scored 30 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. In the following game against Florida, Obanor dropped in 28 points and grabbed 11 more boards. In the loss to Arkansas in the Sweet 16, he still posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Both Maryland and Illinois would benefit greatly from adding Obanor to the roster. He’s an excellent post player and has a proven ability to put up big numbers against major opponents.
