The Oregon Ducks are preparing to host the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday night in what will likely be a pivotal matchup for both squads’ Big 10 title and College Football Playoff hopes.
It looked like former star Cornhuskers quarterback Dylan Raiola was in line to start against his former program, but that changed when he was benched at halftime during the ‘Ducks’ 17-15 Week 6 loss to the UCLA Bruins in favor of junior Brock Thomas.
Now with their season hanging in the balance and Dante Moore still out with injury, it looks like head coach Dan Lanning is putting the ball in Thomas’ hands again in Week 7 against Nebraska.
That’s according to On3’s Pete Nakos:
It makes sense that Lanning would feel the most comfortable with Thomas at the helm after he came in last week and completed 11 of his 15 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown, a performance that nearly led the team to a comeback victory.
Railoa, on the other hand, looked solid in relief of Moore back in Week 4, but was atrocious against UCLA, completing just 6 of his 19 passes for 43 yards, 0 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions.
Now, the former 5-star signee for Nebraska will be sitting on the sideline as he watches the Ducks take on his former program in a game that could end up defining both teams’ entire seasons.
