Oregon landed a massive commitment on Thursday.

Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman safety Jett Washington announced his verbal pledge to Oregon on his Instagram page. Washington was picking from a final 3 that also included Alabama and USC. He took an official visit to USC earlier this month, but elected to join Dan Lanning and the defending Big Ten champs.

Washington is a 5-star recruit in the 2026 class, and he’s also L.A. royalty. He is the nephew of the late Kobe Bryant.

Washington is a 6-foot-5, 200-pound safety prospect. He ranks as the 29th-best recruit in the Class of 2026 and the fourth-ranked safety, according to the industry-generated 247 Composite. He’s the top-ranked recruit from the state of Nevada.

With remarkable size and range, Washington is a safety prospect who can make plays all over a defense. He was the MaxPreps Nevada Player of the Year and a MaxPreps Junior All-American last fall, recording 38 tackles, 5 interceptions, 2 pass breakups, and a forced fumble for powerhouse Bishop Gorman.

Washington played varsity snaps as a freshman in the fall of 2022, and he totaled 37 tackles with 2 picks as a sophomore in 2023.

He becomes a crown jewel of the 2026 class Lanning is building. The Ducks also hold a commitment from another 5-star in North Carolina star Kendre Harrison. Oregon has 9 known commitments in the cycle, 6 of which are from defenders.
