Oregon has landed a commitment from Derby (Kan.) High tight end DaSaahn Brane.

A 6-foot-6, 235-pound pass-catcher, Brame is one of the Midwest’s very best prospects in the Class of 2025 and he was coveted by just about everyone. Brame was also considering Tennessee, LSU, Ole Miss, and Oklahoma, while his offer list included 7 former Pac-12 schools (Oregon included) and 8 of Oregon’s new Big Ten peers.

But the Ducks won the day in the end.

“I got really close to (the coaching staff),” Brame told 247Sports of his commitment to Oregon, which he announced live on the outlet’s YouTube page. “They plan to use me a lot like Terrance Ferguson. … They said I fit in just like him and that’s how they see me in their offense, so I’m really intrigued.”

Brame is a 4-star recruit in the industry-generated 247 Composite. He ranks as the No. 4 prospect from the state of Kansas and the No. 4 tight end in the class. Overall, he sits at No. 117 in the national player rankings.

He becomes the fifth top-200 recruit to give their verbal pledge to the Ducks in the 2025 cycle, forming the backbone of a class that ranks among the top 10 nationally. In that regard, coach Dan Lanning has been exactly what Oregon has hoped. Not counting the transition year when he took the job, the former Georgia assistant has yet to sign a class that didn’t rank among the nation’s 10 best in the 247 Composite. Assuming the Ducks continue to build the class, he’s trending toward 3 in 3 full cycles at Oregon.

Brame comes from quite the family tree. Athleticism is in his blood. His father was a linebacker for Kansas State at the turn of the century and his mother was a basketball player in Manhattan.

Kansas State never got him out for an official visit. Instead, he took OVs to Oregon, Tennessee, Oklahoma, LSU, and Ole Miss. The Ducks got the last visit and made the best impression.

Brame is a big body who averaged north of 20 yards a catch as a junior. He brought in 46 receptions for 942 yards and 13 touchdowns. He has a similar build to Ferguson, who enjoyed his best year last year with 414 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Brame told 247Sports he also got to know second-year tight end Kenyon Sadiq on his visit to Eugene. Between Sadiq, 2024 signee AJ Pugliano, and Brame, the Ducks are building a well-rounded tight end room for when Ferguson exits the program.
