Class of 2027 athlete and Oregon legacy Sam Ngata reportedly committed to the Ducks on Saturday.

The son of Ducks legend Haloti Ngata, Sam Ngata, is a 3-star recruit out of Olympus High School in Salt Lake City. On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported that Ngata committed while in Eugene on a junior day visit.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound Ngata, who plays outside linebacker and wide receiver for the Olympus Titans, pledged to Oregon over offers from Utah, UCLA, Nebraska, and Michigan.

Haloti Ngata was a stellar defensive tackle at Oregon, earning All-Pac-10 honors in 2005 before leaving Eugene a year early for the NFL Draft. The Baltimore Ravens selected Ngata with the 12th overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft, and he went on to play 180 games across 13 seasons. He won a Super Bowl, earned All-Pro honors twice, and made 5 Pro Bowls.

Ngata also played with the Lions and Eagles, ending his career in Philadelphia following 325 solo tackles, 32.5 sacks, 7 forced fumbles, 5 fumble recoveries and 5 interceptions.

Sam Ngata is Oregon’s second commit in the 2027 cycle, joining Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson 4-star defensive lineman Cam Pritchett. The Ducks also claimed the No. 3 class in the 2026 cycle.
