Ahead of its matchup with Ohio State this weekend, Oregon doesn’t sound like it’s rushing Kayvon Thibodeaux’s return to the defensive line.
Thibodeaux left the Ducks’ win over Fresno State and appeared to get his left foot or ankle taped.
After halftime, he was wearing a boot and head coach Mario Cristobal called it a sprain after the game. It sounds like he’s doing better, but Cristobal said he’s still taking things day by day with his star lineman.
Mario Cristobal: Kayvon Thibodeaux is “improving.” Evaluated day-to-day.

Thibodeaux is projected as the No. 3 player in this year’s NFL Draft class by Pro Football Focus and is ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr.’s No. 1 prospect. Losing him would be a huge blow for Oregon’s defensive line, especially considering his 12 quarterback pressures last season as an All-American.
The Ducks edged out Fresno State 31-24 in their season-opener. Thibodeaux made 1 tackles and 1 sack prior to exiting the game.
Oregon and Ohio State are scheduled to square off in Columbus on Sept. 11 at Noon ET on FOX.
