Oregon State is moving on from defensive coordinator Tim Tibesar. Head coach Jonathan Smith made the announcement on Sunday.

Tibesar, a Minnesota native, has spent time at multiple B1G programs during his coaching career. He’s had stops at Purdue, Northwestern and Wisconsin over the past decade.

“I felt it was the right time to make a change in our football program and have relieved Coach Tim Tibesar of his duties at Oregon State,” Smith said in a statement. “All of us thank Coach Tibesar for his hard work and professionalism the past four years and wish him nothing but the best moving forward.”

Tibesar’s first stop in the B1G came in 2012, when he was the defensive coordinator at Purdue. He spent just one season on the staff with the Boilermakers.

In 2014, Tibesar returned to the B1G as a defensive consultant at Northwestern for one season. He then spent three seasons in Madison on Paul Chryst’s staff. Tibesar served as the outside linebackers coach from 2015-16 and added the responsibility of defensive run game coordinator to his title in 2017.

Tibesar joined Smith’s staff at Oregon State in 2018.
