There was no way around it. Following the Buckeyes’ first loss of the season on Saturday against Michigan State, they were going to take a hit.
The only question was how big of a hit it would be.
Well, the Buckeyes are still in the top 10 of the latest Associated Press poll. But they dropped to No. 8 and now sit behind both Iowa and Michigan State.
The loss marked the first B1G regular-season defeat of the Urban Meyer era. It also snapped a 25-game winning streak dating back to Week 2 of 2014.
The Buckeyes were one of five B1G teams in the top 20. Iowa and Michigan State are now at No. 3 and No. 6, respectively, while Michigan moved up to No. 12 and Northwestern was slotted at No. 17.
OSU will have a chance to pick up its first win over a top-25 team this season when it travels to Ann Arbor to take on Michigan.
