OSU hoops adds first commitment for 2023 with 4-star guard out of Kentucky

Ohio State basketball picked up its first commitment for the Class of 2023 and it’s a heralded addition. 4-star Kentucky guard George Washington III pledged his commitment to Ohio State on Nov. 3.
Washington III announced the decision on his Twitter account:

The 6-foot-2, 165-pound Washington is regarded by the 247Sports Composite as the nation’s No. 50 player, the No. 9 overall combo guard, and the No. 2 player from Kentucky. Washington is a Louisville native who attends Christian Academy of Louisville.
Washington also had interest from Louisville, Auburn, Tennessee, and Liberty amongst others.
Ohio State posted a 13-7 overall record and 9-7 record in B1G play last season. Ohio State begins this season with a home matchup vs. in-state opponent Akron on Nov. 9 (6 p.m. EST/ESPN2). Ohio State starts conference play with a road contest at Penn State on Dec. 5 (7:30 p.m. EST/BTN).
