Not many players are able to have the kind of impact in one season that Trey Sermon had in 2020 for the Buckeyes.

After starting his career at Oklahoma, Sermon transferred to Ohio State for one final season following 2019. He started the year splitting time and carries with Master Teague in the Buckeye backfield, but he finished the second half of the season on a tear.

Starting with the game against Michigan State, Sermon posted three straight 100-yard games on the ground. In that stretch was an Ohio State single-game record 331 rushing yards in the B1G Championship against Northwestern. He followed that up with 193 rushing yards in the Sugar Bowl against Clemson.

Unfortunately, Sermon’s night in the CFP National Championship was finished early against Alabama. He had just one carry before leaving the game with an injury and was unable to return.

Sermon finished the year with 870 rushing yards, tops on Ohio State, to go along with four touchdowns. Considering everything that happened in 2020, it was a memorable year for Sermon and the Buckeyes.

On Tuesday, Tony Alford – Ohio State’s Assistant Head Coach and RBs Coach – sent out a tweet praising Sermon for his efforts and impact in Columbus. Check it out:

Sermon definitely left the Buckeye faithful with plenty of exciting memories. Hopefully he is able to make an impact for an NFL team in 2021.
