The first big upset of the year No. 10 UNC is stunned by unranked Virginia Tech on the road.

The Hokies beat the Tar Heels 17-10 Friday night. The Tar Heels were coming off a solid 2020 season where they went 8-4 and had an Orange Bowl appearance.

The Tar Heels have one of the best QB’s in the nation in Sam Howell and a Heisman hopeful.  But, the best QB on the field may have been  Virginia Tech’s Braxton Burmeister.

Burmeister finished the night with a stat line of 12-19 with 169 yards 1 touchdown through the air and 1 touchdown on the ground and 1 interception.

On the other hand, Howell did not have a great night where he finished 17-32 208 yards, 1 touchdown and 3 interceptions.

Virginia Tech plays Middle Tennessee State next week, and UNC returns for their home opener as they get ready to host Georgia State.
